The Oakville atoMc (the entire atom division is sponsored by McDonalds) Eagles edged the Oakville atoMc St. Pats 3-2 in the atom final of the house league competition. Two other local squads reached division finals, with the Oakville Heat falling 4-1 to Waterloo Gibson in the peewee white championship game and the Oakville Purolator Blues dropping a 4-2 decision to the Ottawa West End A2 Jets in the peewee red final. The 11th annual edition of the Frank Sabatino Memorial Tournament, named after the long-time Minor Oaks Hockey Association volunteer, featured 48 teams in two age groups, 12 divisions and 81 games over the weekend. Round-robin play set up the division winners for Sunday's semifinal and championship games at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex. Atom There was no shortage of drama in the atom final as the Eagles rallied from a 2-0 third-period deficit to tie the game, then won it on Hunter Mackinnon's penalty-shot goal. Connor Babb and Jonathan Cook also scored thirdperiod goals for the Eagles after Tommy Bourikas and James St. Louis had given the St. Pats a 2-0 lead. Nicholas Lawlor, Cook and Babb had assists for the Eagles in the final, while Justin Ferarri and Trevor Stamegna earned helpers for the St. Pats. Not only was the atom final an all-Oakville affair, the semifinals also exclusively involved local squads. The Eagles rode a three-point effort from Mackinnon (two goals, one assist) to a 5-1 win over the Greyhounds in one semifinal, while the St. Pats got two goals from Ben Salmon to down the Hurricanes 5-1 in the other semi. Aidan Baxter, Matthew Aziz and Cook had the Eagles' other goals in the semifinals, with Myles Lamb replying for the Greyhounds.
