Author takes her work beyond the book with seminars By Dominik Kurek OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF Just because Buffy Knowlton finished her seven-year writing project, it doesn't mean her work is complete. The longtime Oakville resident, along with collaborator Joanne Fagotto, has published a self-exploration book, Life Design Portefolio. Now, Knowlton is taking the work of the book even further by providing workshops to people who wish to go beyond the self-exploration they got with the book. "Your life portfolio, should you choose to create one, is meant to be ongoing," Knowlton said. "Your portfolio is meant to be a living document, something you can go back to and update and change." The book features stories written by 35 people. Each one is a significant moment in the writer's life, and includes a lesson learned during the experience. The book is photographed and features pictures of doorways, which refer to the pathways taken by people in life. The title uses the French word for door: porte, and the Latin word for pages: folio. "Everybody's got a story to tell," Knowlton said. "In this day and age, we're losing the passing down of stories between family members. This is a place in which people can not only recall stories, but then see how those things have affected their lives."
