Two exhibits at Christmas open house Joshua Creek The Joshua Creek Heritage Centre is currently hosting two exhibits featuring a wide body of work by a sculptor and local scenery captured on camera by a photographer. The two exhibits run until Jan. 8 at the heritage centre. One exhibit is the Many Faces of Chris Kummer: A 20 Year Retrospective, while the other is titled I See, I Point, I take, featuring photos by Janet Bedford. Kummer's exhibit features the doll sculptures made by her. She uses colour, intricate texture and expressive faces in her body of work. The doll sculptures are playful, whimsical, sad and even funny. The exhibit is in the gallery. Bedford's exhibit features pictures taken locally, which reveal that life is magical. The artist says a person can stand anywhere, turn and take pictures from every degree. The exhibit is in the Porch Room. The centre is located at 1086 Burnhamthorpe Rd. E. Gallery hours are Tuesday to Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. For more information, visit www.joshuacreekarts.com. Male guests were invited to join in on the holiday fun. JAMES HOGGET / SPECIAL TO THE BEAVER beauty & spa Keep your clothes looking like new 1. Read labels. Before throwing your clothes into the wash, always read the labels! Some items may need to be washed separately in different temperature water. This will help to avoid damaging material or shrinking a piece with the wrong care. 2. Wash your clothes in cold water. This will help prolong the life of your clothes by keeping the delicate fibers intact while reducing colour fading and shrinkage. 3. Don't forget to keep your zippers closed and other hooks and accessories covered. Try turning your clothing inside out before washing. This will ensure there is no damage to other articles of clothing in the washer. 4. Separate your whites and colours. Ensure you have different wash loads for light and dark clothes to help avoid any bleeding of dyes to your lighter items. www.newscanada.com Celebrate Beauty Voted Best Salon & Best Stylist (Bob Richardson) WE WISH YOU A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR! 50 % NATURAL ACID PEEL OFF TREATMENT College Park Plaza 905-338-6465 · www.bob-r-shop.com Oakville Place location only (905) 849-1671 Offer expires January 31, 2012
