McGuinty asks Flynn to return as PA; MPP agrees but still eyes Speaker's job By David Lea OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty announced Thursday, that Oakville MPP Kevin Flynn will return to serve as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities (TCU). Flynn previously served as Parliamentary Assistant in TCU and his work there led to the establishment of the Ontario College of Trades, a regulatory colMPP Kevin Flynn lege intended to modernize the province's apprenticeship and skilled trades system and encourage more people to work in the trades. Flynn also helped pass legislation on labour mobility, which he says, removed barriers for people in skilled trades in Ontario. "I'm honoured to be asked by the premier to return to such an important ministry and continue to implement the tremendous improvements we've made over the past two terms," he said. "Ontario has become a place with one of the highest post-secondary rates in the world, thanks to recent government investments. However, there is more work required to ensure that every Ontario student has the education and skills required to compete in the global economy and I look forward to working with Minister Glen Murray to meet that need," said Flynn. Despite his new appointment, the MPP said he continues his run for the Speaker's role and says he is bringing forward new ideas on how to improve and restore Ontario's pride in its Legislature.
