The group is staging a telescope event Basics for Beginners on Wednesday, Dec. 28 from 4 p.m.midnight at the RASC Hamilton Observatory, which can be reached by travelling west on Britannia Road -- past Regional Road 25, Guelph Line, and Cedar Springs Road -- to its end at Milborough Line. Go south one block to Concession 7 East. The gate is on the south side of the last lot. The event is aimed at individuals who own a telescope, but don't know how to use it. The group's monthly club meeting on Jan. 5 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 551 (79 Hamilton St. N. in Waterdown) will be open to the public and runs from 7:30-9:30 p.m. There will be a guest speaker and discussions about what's visible in the sky this time of year. This month's discussion is black holes. There will also be a Public Night on Jan. 18 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at the RASC Hamilton Observatory.
