Goalie, ex-teammate reuniting on U17 squad By Herb Garbutt OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF A week ago, Spencer Martin was watching some old home videos when some images from his first minor hockey team appeared on the screen. There were Martin and tyke teammate Stephen Harper, wearing their Burlington Eagles sweaters and watching hockey on TV. The two friends' hockey careers took different paths when Martin and his family moved to Oakville -- Martin joined the Jr. Canadiens organization while Harper continued to play for the Eagles -- but both would go on to become first-round picks in the Ontario Hockey League g draft. Harper went 12th overall to the Erie Otters earlier this year, while Martin was selected six picks later by the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors. Now, 10 years after first playing together, the pair is getting a chance to be teammates again, representing Ontario at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge See U17, page 43 ROB BEINTEMA / METROLAND MEDIA GROUP PROVINCIAL TEAMER: Spencer Martin (in white, pictured in action against the Kitchener Rangers) will represent Ontario at the World Under-17 Hockey oc ey Challenge.
