It was host to conventions, auctions and The Royal Canadian Dog Show. The late Victor Borge played there as well as Burton Cummings and John McDermott. The operating costs are obviously a big consideration but for once let's have improvement instead of demolition. Our town is rapidly losing its vintagehistoric facade. We lost Perdue High School just a few short blocks away. Will the arena go as well and then what is next? Progress is great, but it is not always am improvement. Do I dare respectfully suggest that if this arena had been built all those years ago on the east side of the Sixteen Mile Creek that we would not even need this dialogue? Update, improve, perhaps even an exterior facelift might be a great idea to appease those with a critical sense of esthetics. I have heard many present-day hockey parents say that the building is just a big old barn, it isn't a very good place to watch the game or it is too cold, they don't have very nice coffee and it is so far from home. The Oakville arena might not be the newest girl on the block but she can still turn a few heads for those who appreciate the fine architecture. We need to find a fine balance between things past and a sense of direction to incorporate dated, yet important, buildings for the future. Insurance can be a valuable tool to assist owners with the costs associated with pet care, especially in the event of an accident or illness. There are a number of different types of insurance coverage. Some policies cover routine healthcare such as annual examinations, routine wellness blood work and vaccinations. Illness coverage reimburses for costs associated with diagnosis and treatment of a medical disorder, and accident or injury coverage is designed to cover the costs associated with injuries such as fractured bones or wounds. As veterinary medicine evolves and treatments become more sophisticated, the cost of pursuing the ideal treatment for a major illness can escalate both your veterinarian and your family to focus on the best course of action for your pet while reducing medical care. When choosing an insurance company and the proper coverage, ask your veterinarian for recommendations.
