The victim of a sniper's bullet, which struck him at the post of duty as he was operating his machine gun, Corp. Charles Ridley Cairns, one of the four soldier sons of William C. and Mrs. Cairns, of Stoney Creek, is now lying in a hero's grave in France. The notification which reached his parents last week stated that he had been killed in action on Aug. 21, and word was received from his officer giving particulars of his death ... Corp. Cairns was born in Wales but the family have resided in Stoney Creek for many years ...
