The Quilt Event is the brainchild of The Charlie Fund chair, Anne Smith, an avid quilter who has been dedicated to the development of the fund for many years. The Charlie Fund Quilt Event is an opportunity to explore all things `quilting' and support The Charlie Fund in its efforts to provide emergency veterinary care for the homeless animals of the Oakville & Milton Humane Society. The day includes a silent auction of incredible artisan quilts; a show by the well known `Group of Eight' Fibre Artists and, new this year, a Quilter's Boutique stocked with quilting supplies and much more. The event runs from 10:30 a.m.4:30 p.m. The church is located at 346 Maple Grove Dr. Admission is $2 and includes door prizes and light refreshments. Every dollar raised at The Charlie Fund Quilt Event will be used to provide emergency/special veterinary care to the ill and injured homeless animals of the humane society. The Charlie Fund was formed in 1985 to provide emergency veterinary care for homeless animals at the Oakville & Milton Humane Society. Named for Charlie, a border collie that came into the humane society with a leg injury that required emergency treatment and eventual amputation. Charlie recovered and was later adopted and lived many happy years with his forever family. This led the Oakville & Milton Humane Society to start a fund for other animals in need of emergency treatment. Each year The Charlie Fund saves the lives of more than 150 cats, dogs and small companion animals. The humane society is an independent, non-profit organization.
