Minor peewee Rangers qualify for Silver Stick REP HOCKEY YRESULTS The Oakville minor peewee A Rangers will compete in this year's Silver Stick Invitational tournament. Oakville earned its berth in the prestigious competition by winning the regional Silver Stick tournament in Woodstock recently. The Rangers went 2-1 in round-robin play before defeating the Milton Winterhawks 3-1 in the semifinals and blanking the Sarnia Sting 3-0 in the final. Members of the Rangers are Gabriel Coutu, A.J. Sachdev, David Hayman, Ryan Pitoscia, Will McAllister, Colton Bales, Evan McHenry, Matthew Stone, Luke Pilcher, David Hamburg, Mark Loakostik, Braden Fulton, Paul Franko, Lukas Radinovic, Patrick Vulgan, Mac Sinclair, Michael Syrota and Gavin McCready. The team is coached by Brian Fulton, Anthony Pitoscia and Travis Fulton. Rangers goalies Jason Holmes and Braydon Cunningham were outstanding throughout the tournament, combining to allow just seven goals in five games. Robbie Folino also came up big for Oakville at the competition, scoring on a pass from Alex Santamaria to win the semifinal game in overtime against Guelph. Also contributing for the Rangers were Connor Sinclair, Eric Hansen, Cameron Stone, Matthew Damery, Philip Martin, Jakub Hrapko, James Jia, Anthony Bruno, Reece Feijo, Colin Soares, Michael Sutton, Julien Guay, Matthew Palucci, Kevin Power and William Lee. Minor bantams looking good in defence of OMHA title Despite a revamped roster, the Oakville minor bantam AE Rangers are off to a good start in their quest to repeat as Ontario Minor Hockey Association champions. The Rangers, with nine new players on the team this season, recently won the Bantam A Empire State Cup tournament in Rochester, N.Y. Oakville won three of four games at the competition, posting victories over squads from Pickering, London and New Jersey. "Not only did our players meet the challenge, they exceeded our expectations," said Rangers coach Nelson Pavao. Luke Dickson (four goals) and Jared Schultz (three) led Oakville scorers at the tournament. Julian Chiovitti and Jacob Zedor each contributed several assists, while Malik Wocker and Adrian Mendez provided quality goaltending throughout the competition. Other members of the minor bantam AE Rangers are Adam Lefebvre, Adam Nemcsek, Jake Dickson, Ben Yacula, Bradley Byers, Grant Vassos, Hamish McNeill, Jack Baldin, Joseph Serraro, Kostya Makarevich and Nicholas Li. Brent Scarrow, Joe Baldin and Dan Lefebvre are assistant coaches with the team, and Steve Schultz is the trainer. The Rangers' roster turnover this year came after several players moved up to a higher level of rep, allowing house league players to move up to the AE team.
