He was born in Breda, Holland, then after a 3 year stay in South Africa with his young family, arrived in Canada in 1956 where he lived in Oakville and Hamilton and since 2008 in Kelowna B.C. He had two happy marriages the first to Corry (Zus) and after she died in 1981, to Eveline (Eve). Gerry was the last of 6 children in his family and is survived by many nephews and nieces in Holland who lovingly knew him as Oom Gerrit. He will be missed by us who loved him, son Gys (Angela), grandchildren Coreen and Katrina, son Hans (Poppy), grandchildren, Andrew (Susan), Thomas (Bunny), Christy (Mike) and Jake. Gerry's great grandchildren Liam, Mathew, Tyler, Jessica, Dorian and Joland.
