The pair was joined in celebration after Thursday's provincial election by Milton Mayor Gord Krantz and Halton MP Lisa Raitt. Extended Hours Evening and Saturday Appointments Available We Welcome New Patients Chudleigh's win was bittersweet victory It was another bittersweet election night for the PC's Ted Chudleigh. However, his disappointment over another Liberal government was clearly overshadowed by individual triumph, as the Halton riding returned the long-time MPP to Queen's Park. Hugs and handshakes were the order of the night, as Chudleigh and wife, Sandy, arrived at Ned Devine's Irish Pub in Milton with victory fairly imminent and a celebratory atmosphere already in full swing. "This is your victory," said Chudleigh to a packed house of supporters and well-wishers at around 11 p.m., with his win all but officially declared. "It's bittersweet (with Liberals' overall win), but the sweetness of this victory will live in my heart forever." "This is fantastic. It was a lot of hard work, but we expected this locally. Ted Chudleigh, Halton MPP he's got a great track record in his four terms in office. The people come first with him," said Chudleigh's campaign manager Keith Hesse. Taking an early lead and holding it for the balance of the night, the veteran MPP expressed strong satisfaction in continuing to enjoy voters' support in such a rapidly-growing riding. "Since the last election there's been 30,000 new constituents in this riding. It's very gratifying that even the newcomers recognize how hard I work for them. That's very humbling," said Chudleigh. With such a vast area to cover during the campaign, the MPP admitted that knocking on every door just wasn't possible. "There are 70,000 doors in this riding, and I soon realized that I wasn't going to get to all of them. I could have promised that, but that would have been a Liberal promise... one that wouldn't have been fulfilled," quipped Chudleigh, while thanking his campaign team, in particular two teen supporters. Looking ahead, Halton's MPP said the expansion of f Milton District Hospital and construction of the new hospital in north Oakville were top priorities. "There's also a highway system that's threatening the Greenbelt. That needs to be addressed in a reasonable way," he added.
