He was the best friend and beloved husband of Marie Brown for 69 years prior to her death (2010). Loving and proud father of Alan and his wife Shari. Len was a devoted grandpa and close friend of Joshua, Christy and her husband Nick Peterson. He was the very proud great-papa of Camryn and Bryn Peterson. He cherished time with his family, was a great friend to all he met, was very bright and articulate and had an outrageous sense of humour. He loved music of all genres, possessed a wonderful tenor voice, was a great athlete and became an avid sports fan. He was a proud World War II veteran in the British Army of the North African, Italian and European campaigns. He was a long term employee of B.A./ Gulf Oil Companies in their Petroleum Research Division. He was a loving and generous man who volunteered at the Life Care Nursing Home, leading residents in sing songs for many years. Friends and family will be received at Oakview Funeral Home, 56 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville on Friday, October 14th, 2011 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 15th, 2011 at 3 pm in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations to the New Oakville Hospital Foundation would be appreciated. Born October 25, 1923 in Tomaszow Mazowiecki, Poland, she came to Canada with her family in 1928, settling first in North Battleford, Saskatchewan and then moving to Vernon, British Columbia in 1937. She moved to Kitchener, Ontario in 1942, to Delmanor Retirement Home in Oakville in 2007 and most recently to Cawthra Gardens Nursing Home in Mississauga in 2009. Wanda was a long time member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kitchener. She was predeceased by husband Barney (1983), parents Gustav (1942) and Julianna (nee Wudel) (1964), sisters Elfryda Hintz (1977), Lucy Halbert (1997), Hertha Krueger (2010) and Emma Lorentz and her brother Oscar Lawrence (1996). She is survived by her sister-in-law Joyce Lawrence of Waterloo and brotherin-law Robert Benn (Mavis) of Edmonton, sons Patrick of Vancouver, Malcolm and daughterin-law Beverly of Oakville and two grandsons Stephen (Sarah) of Bermuda and Bryan of Oakville.
