The new state-of-the-art hospital is being built on a 50-acre site in the northern part of Oakville and will be more than three times the size of the current OTMH.The new hospital will offer a full range of acute healthcare services including: acute inpatient care adult mental health child and adolescent mental health cancer clinic complex continuing care critical care emergency maternal child care medical/surgical rehabilitation renal dialysis Construction on the New Oakville Hospital is expected to be completed in 2015. Infrastructure Ontario and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care are working with HHS to develop the new replacement hospital, which will remain publicly owned and publicly controlled. Once completed, the New Oakville Hospital will be one of the largest community hospitals in Ontario. Dr. Naveen Arya, Dr. Douglas Bair, and Dr. Joe Pham are physicians who are doing more than dedicating their lives to improving patient care at Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH) - they are also helping fund it! The three physicians recently joined together to purchase a much-needed endoscopic ultrasound equipment for OTMH valued at more than $430,000. This advanced equipment will enable doctors at the hospital to obtain accurate and detailed images of a patients digestive tract as well as the organs and tissues that surround it by providing more exact pictures than routine x-rays, CAT scans or even MRI scans. The sophistication of the endoscopic ultrasound equipment will mean physicians can provide accurate diagnosis to ensure the best treatment for specific cancers and other gastrointestinal conditions. Very few centres in Canada are able to provide this service. OTMH is very fortunate to have access to this type of advanced technology for our patients. Thank you to Doctors Arya, Bair and Pham for their generosity, and, the work they do every day improving the lives of our patients.
