This was just one business opportunity Halton Healthcare Services (HHS) president and CEO John Oliver and vice president of redevelopment Bill Bailey spoke about during a presentation to the Oakville Chamber of Commerce Monday. The prospect of money to be made from the $2.7-billion project drew a considerable crowd with more than 200 members of Oakvilles busi- ness community packing the Oakville Conference and Banquet Centre to hear the pre- sentation. Regarding the retail space, Oliver said there has already been considerable interest from people wanting to f know what type of retail will be established there and i they could open a shop in the hospital. Oliver said these decisions will not be made until late 2013 or early 2014. Other economic impacts from the hospital, however, will probably come sooner. Police said the incident began at around 1 p.m. when the homeowners arrived at their Elton Park home just in time to see a man running out of their garage. The residents chased the suspect, but the man was able to make an escape. Police were called to the area and used canine units to try to locate the would-be thief, but were unsuccessful. No signs of forced entry were found at the home and it is unknown if the suspect was able to make off with any property. A similar break and enter took place in the area on Friday, Sept. 23. Police said they believe the two incidents are connected. The suspect is described as a white male, in his late 20s or early 30s, around 6-feet tall, neatly dressed with short, dark brown hair. Halton police are continuing to investigate this incident and anyone with any informa- tion related to it are asked to call 905-825- 4747, ext. 2284 or 2263. f fResidents return home to ind thie leaving See Hospital page 3 Hospital will bring back jobs, taxes and business ROOTING FOR THE ENVIRONMENT: Members of a senior team with the CheerForce WolfPack cheerleading squad participated in a Shoreline Cleanup at Coronation Park on Sunday.
