The workshop, titled Exploring Creative Writing, will run Monday afternoons from Sept. 26 to Dec. 5 at St. Cuthberts Anglican Church, located at 1541 Oakhill Dr. The course will explore different forms of creative writing and tech- niques. There will be instruction on writing short stories, memoirs, travel writing, childrens writing and just for fun writing. There will be lectures, discussions, exercises and sharing in an effort to help participants stretch themselves as writers. The workshop will be led by Brian Henry, who has been a book editor for more than 25 years and teaches creative writing at Ryerson University. The once-a-week workshops will run from 12:45-2:45 p.m. The cost to participate in the program is $130. People are asked to register early, as space is limited. Cowboy rides into Oakville for concert Canadian country and roots musician Tim Hus will be perform- ing at The Moonshine Cafn Thursday, Sept. 15. Hus (vocals, guitar) will be backed by his band, featuring a bass and fiddle player, performing country and cowboy songs. The Alberta-based singer-song- writer received a 2011 Canadian Music Award nomination for roots artist of the year. The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10. Once-a-month Literary Cafe commences The Oakville Literary Alliance is starting a new year of poetry and prose at its monthly events. Starting on Sept. 18, the Literary Cafill take place every third Sunday of September, October, November, February, March and April. The event will run from noon to 2 p.m. at the Moonshine Caf located at 137 Kerr St. Literary Cafe calls for anyone who has written a short story, poem, epic or a song who would like to recite his or her work in a friendly atmosphere. The event was known as Poetry Cafe until last year. Then it began accepting prose as well as poetry and was renamed.
