Six years ago, 15-year-old Oakville resident Sydney Clark was suddenly stricken with Reyes Syndrome, a rare disease that shut down most of her bodys organs, put her in a coma and had such profound effects, she had to learn how to walk and talk all over again. Today, Clark has just graduated from university and this would not have been possible without the dedica- tion and extraordinary medical atten- tion given by the Critical Care Unit (CCU) team at Torontos Hospital for Sick Children who saved her life. The Clark family and friends host an annual fundraiser for SickKids called Do You Believe in Magic? and have raised more than $150,000 for the CCU over the past four years. They have been honoured by SickKids Foundation as being the highest single-family donor to the CCU. This years event will be held at The Harbour Banquet Centre in The Compass Restaurant overlooking Bronte Harbour. Tickets are still available tho this elegant cocktail party hosted by Oakville MPP Kevin Flynn with chef- prepared cuisine stations, silent auc- tion, prize draws and more. Tickets cost $75 per person and can be ordered by calling 416-505-6304. For more information, contact neclark77@gmail.com.
