Elections Ontario has introduced a new website, wemakevotingeasy.ca, which highlights a number of new voting initiatives that will lengthen the voting period and allow more accessible voting. Ontarians eligible to do so by mail can use a special ballot and cast their vote at their returning office or satellite office over a period of 28 days. There will now be assistive voting technology (AVT) including audio tactile interface, paddles, sip and puff devic- es. These will allow voters who needed assistance in the past to now vote secretly. The AVTs will be at returning and satel- lite offices from Sept. 21 to Oct. 5. The wemakevotingeasy.ca provides information about what acceptable types of identification to bring to the polls, host useful apps, allow voters to find what electoral district they live in, see if they are on the voters list, find their voting location and apply for election day employment. The writ for the Oct. 6 election dropped today. Voters will have 29 days to vote (Sept. 8-Oct. 6); 28 days to vote in per- son with a special ballot at the returning/satellite office (Sept. 8-Oct. 5); 23 days to apply for a special ballot to vote by mail (Sept. 8-30); 15 days to vote with assistive voting technology (Sept. 21-Oct. 5); 10 days to vote at advance polls ( p ); y ( )Se t. 21-30 12 hours to vote on election da Oct. 6 . New ways to vote in Ontario election Natural Heritage System to remain intact. Oakville does not need a third bridge and road cor- ridor dissecting the forests only 500 meters north of the latest new bridge addition at l6 Mile Creek at Dundas. We don't need an expressway clearcut through Glenorchy at Fourth Line through the l6 Mile Creek. The l6 Mile Creek Valley (Area of Natural and Scientific Interest) and Glenorchy Conservation Area is the heart of the NHS and must not be the place for road develop- ment. Please help save Oakville's Natural Heritage System once again. Diane Burton, Director Oakvillegreen Conservation Association, Friends of Glenorchy Continued from page 6 Oppose road development
