Katherine Karthaus earned gold with Ontario Jr. Storm Team 1, while Kendyl Wilson and Danielle Spice claimed bronze with Ontario Jr. Storm Team 2. Ontario 1 defeated Team B.C. 34-18 in the championship game at nationals, while Ontario 2 rout- ed Team Quebec 55-14 in the bronze-medal contest. All of the women representing Ontario on our two teams did a fantastic job, said Celeste Corless, director of junior women for Rugby Ontario. For two Ontario teams to medal speaks volumes for the development of womens rugby in our province. Ontario might match that accomplishment next year, since five members of Ontario 1 including Karthaus and the entire Ontario 2 team are eligible for the 2012 nationals. Katherine, Kendyl and Danielle played important roles on their respective teams, played a lot of rugby and did an excellent job rep- resenting Oakville, the Crusaders and Ontario at the champion- ships, Corless added. Its a tre- mendous accomplishment achieved by each of them.
