Oakville won all four of its games at the competition, including a 30-27 win over Dundas in the final. Oakvilles Blake Weston helped Ontario take the gold medal at the Baseball Canada Cup in Moncton, N.B. Ontario went 7-1 at the tournament for the best 17-and-under players in the country. The Ontario squad rallied from a 2-0 deficit to beat Saskatchewan 3-2 in the championship game. Weston was warming up in the bullpen in anticipation of extra innings when Ontario scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. I was looking forward to pitching in the big game but Cal (Quantrill, son of former Blue Jay Paul) was rolling, Weston said. They couldnt touch him. (5 innings, 0 hits, 0 runs). It was an awesome experi- ence that I learned a lot from. Weston pitched two shutout innings in an 8-6 win over British Columbia and also retired the lone batter he faced in a 6-1 win over Alberta. Overall, he pitched 2 1/3 innings, giving up two hits, one walk and striking out one. The 16-year-old has had his fastball clocked at 89 mph. Weston, a Grade 11 student at Abbey Park, plays for the Oakville minor midget As. He hopes to earn a baseball scholar- ship to a Division 1 school in the U.S. gWeston, Ontario earn U17 old *Each office is independently owned and operated WEEKEND SHOWCASE OF HOMES CHESTER & JANET SADLOWSKI Sales Representatives ROYAL LEPAGE BURLOAK REAL ESTATE SERVICES, BROKERAGE INDEPENDENTLY OWNED & OPERATED 905-335-3042 CUTE AS A BUTTON - $469,000 Gardeners delight.
