And this is just the beginning. In the months ahead, Ontario will see: New manufacturing. Samsung and our partners are now constructing four manufac- turing facilities to produce wind towers and blades, as well as solar modules and inverters for our projects in Ontario. Three of these factories will be open by this December. These facilities will also export these products around the world placing Ontario at the forefront of the global shift to renewable power. New jobs. Samsung and its partners will create 16,000 direct and indirect jobs as a result of their investment, providing opportu- nity to communities hard hit by the global recession 1,800 jobs have already been announced in Windsor, Tillsonburg and Toronto and more than 600 people are at work today. New clean energy 2,500 megawatts of renewable wind and solar energy will be cre- ated as a result of the agreement, reducing Ontarios dependence on dirty coal. Ontarios taxpayers benefit from Samsungs unprecedented investment in the province, from Samsung and our partners assuming all risk of cost overruns and project delays in the development of new energy production, and from the creation of at least 16,000 new jobs. This is a win-win for Ontarios taxpayers and hydro ratepayers alike. Aside from the signal a contract cancella- tion would send to investors and job-creating companies around the world, Ontario would lose the benefit of the thousands of jobs Samsung and our partners will create jobs fthat are crucially important to the life o small and large communities alike. For each of these reasons, we find it regrettable that you have chosen to target this contract in the manner you have. Samsung has no interest in entering into a political debate. A neutral global company, we remain committed to fulfilling our agreement with the Government of Ontario to create jobs in the production of clean energy for genera- tions to come. Dorenda McNeil, Spokesperson, Samsung C&T Samsung says Ontario contract is win-win for taxpayers Continued from page 1
