Community responds to call for help We would like to thank all those who responded to our ASSIC ALERT entitled Needs for the Needy In this article we had put out a request for several items for the needy in our community The phone calls began to trickle in We had a fridge donated 2 sofa beds dressers and 2 single mattresses These items were passed on to several families in our community They were extremely grateful One mother even commented that thanks to the donations she could sleep in a bed of her own for the first time in months We thank those who donated to our Needs Coordination Program as your generosity and kindness has made a difference in the lives of others For those who are interested we are still in need of baby items such as high chairs car seats cribs and baby clothing We are also looking for a table and chairs a fridge 3 dressers coffee andor and tables and a vacuum If your are able to assist us by donating these items please call ASSIC at 8533310 and ask for Lin Arrangements can be made to pick up your donations You will not have to commit yourself to any deliver ing Once again we thank the community for helping us to help others ACTON PARENTCHILD CENTRE COOP RIDE PROGRAM We at the Acton ParentChild Resource Centre are aware that there are some people who would like to use the Centres programs but cant because of the long walk with preschoolers community to have their voice heard A provincewide needs assess ment project is currently being coordinated on behalf of the On tario farm community The pur pose of the project is to identify what courses and presentation methods could help farmers enhance their farm business management skills The results of the project will be available to anyone offering training pro grams to Ontario farmers In the next three months the project team will interview agribusiness personnel conduct focus groups and carry out a telephone survey of farmers A random sampling from the farm community will be asked to par ticipate in this study Farmers wishing to make com ments may complete the short survey which will soon be distributed to the farm communi ty Ongoing farmer training needs identification is planned An enthusiastic response by the Ontario farm community will permit courses to be developed and delivered that meet the cur rent needs of the Ontario farm community said Cathie Lowry Managing
