8771 1 Assault charge Halton Regional Police have charged a Georgetown man with assault after he allegedly punch his common in law wife in the head and smashed up her vehicle Sunday night Police say the ac cused and the woman were at home when the accused who had been drinking heavily told the complainant to move out The complainant told police the ac then grabbed her wrist twisting her arm and then slap ped her in the face with his cup ped hand The complainant then left and got in her car but the ac cused followed her and put a headlock on her when she exited the car and allegedly punched her in the head two times before pushing her head into the car win say police The accused then scratched her car and rammed it with his vehicle causing damage The yearold man was charged with assault and mischief and appeared in Milton court Aug for a bail hearing Cigarette thefts Police report two variety stores one in Georgetown and the other in Acton had cigarettes stolen during break ins Sunday night Police they responded to an alarm activation at Trio Mart on Main St in Georgetown and found one of the front doors open and 855 worth of cigaret tes cash and lottery tickets miss Police believe the culprits must have had a key to open the doors because there was no sign of forced entrj and are ing their investigation Police are also continuing to investigate a break in at the Village Variety Store on Mill St in Acton where entry was gained by prying open the front door Once inside unknown culprits stole 1 worth of cigarettes rolling kits Mower removed Police say while a rural lot was left vacant for approximately two months unknown culprits walked through the lot to a small shed and stole a h John Deere garden tractor mower worth Police the suspects must have entered the shed via a partially covered window and then drove he lawnmouer out through the shed s bay door Police are still investigating Vehicle vandalized A Georgetown man car gear shift is out of alignment and the back seat was drenched with unknown liquid after unknown vandals entered the car while it was parked in a Dr laneway Saturday Police say the culprits entered the vehicle removed controls from the radio a stainless steel thermos and ed through the glove compart ment The vehicle was found on the road and towed away Police later informed the owner the gear shift was one inch out of align and that some type of liquid had been poured over the rear seats Police have two possible young offender suspects and are continuing their investigation Plywood stolen Police report 2 worth of spurce plywood is characterized by having a complete metamorphosis with caterpillars transforming into pi Dae then metamorphosing into adult moths Gypsy Moths cater pillars have been known to feed on the leaves of plants in eluding agricultural crops and grasses The Halton Region Conserva Hon Authority have ad vised the Region that the Gypsy Moths are spreading through the southern portion of their watersh ed particularly in north Burl and The results of the Gypsy Moth eating the leaves of trees is a reduced ability to make food necessary for the trees survival When the ability to make food is reduced the
