Leworthy s feelings these days The 14 year old from Milton wasn greatly impressed with his performance at the Metro Toronto Wheelchair Challenge this past weekend He said poor weather conditions on Saturday may have been partly to blame I was expecting to do a lot bet said Leworthy whose record included a first place finish in the male junior m paraplegic race at a time of is seconds Unfortunately for Leworthy the weekend event also saw second place finished in the m and 500 races and a third place posting in the loo event said he is convinced the wet track at the Etobicoke Centennial Stadium on Saturday may have hurt his performance I hate to make a lot of excuses up he said But that what I think it is Leworthy who has has seen better A regional meet in Milton for example saw him place first in all events Leworthy has been competing for more than three years and said Saturday the challenge is getting tougher More athletes are par ticipating he said and many have improved greatly over the years Admitting he is very com petitive himself said he is up to the challenge Leworthy also plays wheelchair basketball but said he prefers track He said he enjoys the in dividual attention an athlete receives in track events You can t blame it on anv other person if you screw up His track meets have taken him to areas such as Ottawa and Corn wall and he Is aiming
