dinner was catered to by Home United Church ladies The hall and tables were nicely decorated with a blue and white theme The ministers Stephen and Ann BemroseFetter were co- chairmen First on the entertainment were three songs from The Sound Inspiration Swing Low Hush and I Asked the Lord One of the members of this group was Kistner a former member of United Church Rev Walter Ridley and Rev Kenneth Jull spoke of the highlights of their ministry in The audience was favored with two recitations from Don Crawford They were Albert and the Lion and The Bridge Builder Rev Hugh former assis tant minister spoke of his heritage in Norval United Church Bonnie Crawford Neely rendered two beautiful solos Could I Have This Dance and This Little Child Rev Lloyd and Rev Alex Cowan clos ed the evening with their reminiscences 100th anniversary NORVALNorval United Church had a full congregation with joy overflowing to the Sun day School room for their 100th anniversary on Sunday Oct 2J read a letter from the chairman of the Region of Halton Pete Pomeroy Pete ex pressed his disappointment at not being able to attend He said he was proud and happy to have received his early Christian education in Sunday School The anniversary cake was cut by Mrs Kate and Mrs Catherine both inlaws of Matthew and Aaron respectively The Laidlaws were founders of the church Both ladies are the oldest Georgetown and District Seniors Association held its first major event on Oct 22 at Holy Cross Hall Even though it seemed to be the last of a number of dinners it was nonetheless quite successful The first sitting was entirely sold out This was a major fundraising event and many people con tributed to its success To all those who helped in sell ing tickets planning preparation and serving of the dinner thank you fa special thank you is for the young people from the Holy Cross groups and the Georgetown high school for their help They were cheerful cooperative and good workers a credit to their leaders To all the directors members of committees and members you should be pleased with your ef forts and be planning the next endeavor Canvassers are already at work delivering brochures and was where the action was for a group of local men playing baseball Sunday afternoon A most enjoyable time was had by all par ticipants On Saturday Nov sumptuous aromas will be emitting from the United a Halloween dance As always this dance was relaxed and full of fun Susan and Gerry Burgan won best costume when they arrived at the dance as a rooster and a hen Thi played all the right tunes t keep people dancing A Halloweei prank came arly when a bomb was set off outside the cen tre Smoke filtered inside th building through the windows Dancers kept calm and quietly go their jackets to go outside quickly returned upon learning that a prank and not a fire was the cause of the smoke The recent meeting had a small group in attendance Mrs Alma Sinclair gave a report on the Presbyterian
