Wednesday November 1 Page Opinion Page Do it yourself abortions program offensive reader Stop GTA POWER member says EDITORS NOTE The following letter to Canadian Radio and Television Commission President Patrick Walson was filed with the Herald for publication Dear Mr Watson I wish to lodge a vehement com plaint with regard to last evenings Oct radio interview with a California woman on a segment en titled Do It Yourself Abortions aired on 740 just before pm on the program As Happens It was distasteful offensive unethical dangerous and totally out of order tojr that program na tionally locally or at all It was a blatant advertisement for a 20- video made by pro- abortionists in response to the in creasing number of US states voting prolife However the detailed question ing by Michael Enrightand the gratuitous responses on our own CBC program left nothing to the imagination of the listener Anyone perform her own abor tion or her friends To quote the interviewee Its easy Is that responsible broadcasting Detail ed instructions on how to commit a murder what easily obtained weapons to use and a visual duplication are available on re quest I have previously protested the bias shown on our national media They seem to take every op portunity to promote abortion and demean the integrity of prolife supporters But now they have hit the nadir of their campaign If the interview did not give enough graphic details for the home pro cedure to be performed by some distraught teenager or older woman then all she need do is send for the video title producer loca tion were all given but no zip I urge you to read the transcript of that program and while the harm already dope cannot be retrieved perhaps you will assure that future broadcasting will be more responsible I deeply resent my tax dollars supporting such programming and if there were some way to avoid it I certainly would take that direction Meanwhile I protest And I pray that there were no per suaded doityourselfabortioners in the listening audience God help them and their preborn babies Sincerely Margaret MWilhs Thanks for support of Respite program Dear Sir On behalf of Halton Support
