season starting gate like the famed champion race horse Secretariat Two convincing wins on the road last weekend over day night and over Bradford on Sunday make for a very satisfying start for a hockey season regardless of the league Hopefully the Sabres won suf fer the same fate as Secretariat who was put down last week because of an incurable hoof TAIT REALTY Both Sabre wins came about as a result of third period surges by the Acton crew a credit both to the team s conditioning and the train ing camp regimen of head coach Ken Steen The offensive splurge was similarly backed up by two solid performances from Sabre netminder Jim Mantione The team supporters will be able to get a good long look at the edition of the Sabres as two games are scheduled for Acton Community Centre this weekend Canadian Hockey League Sabres had a game scheduled Friday evening against Orangeville Crushers first place regular season champion last year at press time the score was not available Sunday
