THE HERALD Wednesday July Page 17 Port Perry perfidy Landry Sorry fellas but you cant park here the policeman said just as I turned off the ignition to my truck Theyre doing some important work up the road and no traffic is allowed on Main Street today Sorry I looked at Barry and we both sort of shrugged For sure Main Street in Port Perry wasnt exactly a hub of activity on this day Apart from a small group of people gathered around a cou ple of trucks further up the road the place looked abandoned Ive seen more hectic happenings in the and cow pastures in themght in December Now thats weird Barry grumbled You just pulled off a perfect parallel park much to my surprise may I add Aw its not too hard when theres nobody else around I inter jected a little confused myself Anyway my point is if I may make my point perfectly clear sir Barry continued in his own inimitable fashion the point is do these people want our tourist dollars or not I mean we travell ed all this way in the middle of our busy day might I add to- donate to the neardepleted coffers of their sportfishing industry and it looks like they dont want our money Relax Barry I said look at that sparkling water man Lake Scugog home of walleye bass and of course the mighty muskie So relax theres a coffee shop around the corner and there was too my- memory hadnt failed me it was a neat little place that greeted us with Forty pounder out there with my name on it Yeah yeah Barry agreed but first were breakfast and were findin out whats goin on around here Park the truck uh please So we got out and made our way like a couple of heading toward that mysterious cluster of people at the top of Main Street About halfway up the road we encountered an open entrance a wide open door and we made a detour inside to a very nice quaint but classy restaurant Breakfast gentlemen the waitress asked with a wide smile You bet we said in unison and we proceeded to gobble down one of the finest firstoftheday repasts ever double
