THE HERALD Wednesday March 1M Tickets going fast for an enchanted evening By DIANE ATKINSON Herald Special The walls of the Ballinafad Com Centre will be ringing with music May and 12 13 when Georgetown Globe Produc tidhs presents Some Enchanted Evening a supper theatre presen tation of aha Hammers- most ermnorable music Youll stroll down memory lane with your favorite songs from some of the duos biggest musicals including Carousel South Pacific The King and I Oklahoma State Fair and The Sound of Music Some Enchanted Evening will begin with a sitdown dinner at 7 30 followed the show at ap proximately m A cash bar will Appeal Spiel on its way It wont be long until 28 en curling teams take to the ice and Kurl for Kids in the Big Brothers Appeal Spiel To date the resjonse has been good but Big Brothers of Halton still needs more team captains to come forward with team lists Entering a team is really quite easy First assemble a group of four people who are fun loving energetic and interested in sup porting Big Brothers Second phone Big Brothers and have them you the necessary pledge forms Finally once the team members have collected the entry fee simply show up and be prepared to have the time of your life And remember you do not have to be a champion curler to enter Appeal Spiel Rather what is important is that each par ticipant has a spirited attitude and willingness to help kids Call now to enter your team and you may find yourself facing off against The Halton Police Foot Patrol and Little Brothers The Board of Directors and Little Brothers numerous curling teams from both the Curl Club and the Milton Curling Club or perhaps Doug Canothers MPP Oakville South Ian Beckstead and some of his Toronto Argonaut team Mayor Gord of Milton and Mayor Anne Mulvale will all be on hand to lend their support to all curlers During the day event a luncheon will be served and trophies and prizes will be awarded Brooms will be provided but all curlers arc asked to wear footgear that will slide easily on the ice There is still time to enter your team so call Big Brothers of Halton at 8477267 You owe it to yourself to group together a bunch of friends take a Saturday off and have a ball be provided and there will be dan cing until after each per formance Everyone is welcome to stay and join the cast on the dance floor Tickets are on sale now at Royal Real Estate Services Guelph St Georgetown Due to the popularity of the show the two Saturday performances May and are already sold out Tickets cost 50 per person dinner and show The Ballinafao Community Centre is located at Trafalgar Road and Regional Road 42 kilometres north of Georgetown Colin is the musical director for this springs show Col in hails from England where he was always involved in musical theatre When he came to Canada and Georgetown three years ago with his wife Joy he t want to be away from the stage so before he even had a place to live Colin joined Globe and has been an ac tive member ever since You might remember his wonderful performances as Cornelius in Hello Dolly I He also appeared in Stay Tuned and Kiss Me Kate and was musical director of Globes Arts Alive 88 concert Taking baton in hand once again Colin br ings skill professionalism and a lot of experience to his role as mucial director Colins coworkers at Varian in Georgetown might not know about his musical background but the audiences at Some Enchanted Evening will experience it first hand when they hear the beautiful sounds of each familiar song Gerry Andrew Some Enchanted Evenings artistic director has been directing andor producing musicals for over years Gerrys involvement with theatre began in England and although he appeared in some musicals he concentrated on direction When Gerry came to Canada in 1969 he worked with the Pickering Westhill Music Theatre and the Brampton Musical Society His work with Pickering earned him two THEAs one for best visual in Anything Goes and one for best set design in Mame Involved with Globe for eight years now Gerry has done set design set construction makeup he produced Bngadoon and Kiss Me Kate and be even appeared in Oklahoma and Mame Gerry has also stage managed musical groups visiting Georgetown He recently moved to a small farm outside of Acton and is celebrating his wedding anniversary with wife Betty With a team of talented season theatrics like this Some En chanted Evening promises to be an evening to remember SAVE SAVE SAVE 10 OFF ALL MODELS IN STOCK Georgetown Hobby Joy i GEORGETOWN CINEMAS 235 GUELPH STREET 8731999
