THE HERALD Wednesday January 18 Council sets committee members for new term Councillors have set the for the various com mittees for the coming term The budget committee probably the busiest committee in the com ing weeks will be headed up by Rick Bonnette for Vice- chairman will be Coun Al Cook Coundilors Gerald Spence and Robert Heaton round out the budget committee with Mayor Miller as exoffldo Councillor Marilyn Serjeantson returns to chair the towns site plan review committee for Coun Bonnette is the vice chairman and Mayor Miller alsc sits on the committee Coun Johnston and Joe Hewitt are alternates There will be three councillors appointed to the Georgetown and District Memorial Hospital Board Pat McCarthy Johnston and Coun Serjeantson will sit on the board for the entire threeyear term Mayor Miller will chair the towns building committee the committee which will oversee con struction of the new Civic Centre until its completion Coun Johnston will chair the official opening subcommittee Coun Hewitt will chair the donations subcommittee and Coun Cook will look after the time capsule Coun cillors Serjeantaon and Norm Elliott will also sit on the building committee The town also appointed three members to the Halton Association for Truckers Safety HATS for 1989 The three members include Mayor Miller and Councillors Hewitt and Heaton Spence will sit on the Ballinafad Community Hall Board for Elgin residents want to see action Residents of Elgin Street in Georgetown want the town to stop deleting roadwork from yearend budgets and to repair the tem porary road surface Tom a Spokesman for Elgin Street residents presented Hills councillors Monday with a 31name petition calling for the roadwork to be completed When it rains very heavily I do wind up with a
