Bishop Paul Francis Reding Secondary School will be ready to accept over students by Sept 1088 Various dignitaries helped In the official sod ceremony Nov The west wing of the school will be ready for next September and the entire school should be finished by Jan 1 1969 said Roman Catholic School Board Superintendent Dennis Nolan The school will be located on Main Street Just east of Thompson Road In Milton The figure eight shaped building will be a comprehensive school with facilities for vocational and academic students Mr Nolan said The facility will have three full- size gymnasiums a full size football field and a metre I rack Inside the building all the educa tional and technological aspects of the school will be together said Mr Nolan Some of schools facilities in clude five science laboratories two geography labs a large library a cafeteria a arts depart ment a stage in cafeteria for theatre arts and school functions and a daycare facility The daycare facility will be fund ed separately from the 15 million school by the Ministry of Education said Mr Nolan The school will also contain several tennis courts and a facility for trainable retarded children A separate space has been plann ed for retarded children with the hopes that they can be Integra ted with the students said Mr Nolan Bishop Reding will also be fully equipped with ramps and an levator for handicapped pupils When construction is complete Bishop Reding will have the capaci ty lo educate over students Bishop Reding Principal Art Kelly said the school Intends to odd a grade each year bishop Reding is may end up fighting a larger army at regional school board meetings The Ministry of Education has lust released a report recommending that school trustees be elected by population Instead by property assessment Members of the Joint Committee on Trustee Distribution arc recom mending the new system be used to elect trustees during the next municipal elections in November According lo Ministry spokesman Ruth the system would streamline municipal elections School trustee elections ore the only elections In Ontario not based on the principle of representation by population Ms Flynn said Its an enormously complicated system right now said Many felt why not Just have one simple formula we can apply right across board The system lends to favor rural areas right now But In regions as In which population differences bet ween local municipalities are ex treme the smaller areas may end up losing because they arc not large enough to support more The potential certainly Is there said might swallow or Inhale pieces of It choke A torn cover also leads to holes In the bumper pad and babies have n known to stick their heads in these holes and suffocate MATTRESS SUPPORT MECHANISMS The mattress support mechanisms or hangers an some cribs may not be secure Check them by rattling mattress support thumping the mattress from the top and repeating the thumping on the support from Ihc Georgetown THE BENT REVIEW GUIDELINE FOR 1988 IS PER CENT The rent review guideline for next year has been calculated at per cent This is the amount by which a landlord can increase the maximum rent for a unit during 1088 without approval from the Ministry of Housing The rent for a unit can he ma eased only once in a 12month period The per cent guideline applies to all private rental units in the province for rent increases that take effect from January 1988 to December 1088 The guideline of per cent continues to apply to rent increases which take effect on or before December It is illegal for a landlord to increase the maximum rent above the guideline without applying to the Ministry of Housing for rent review to justify the increase In cases where a landlord does apply for an increase
