Citizens forum Defends GLT selections Dear Sir In response to last week letter regarding Georgetown Little Theatre I feel must come to their defence their plays not be family orientated I along with my family have seen every play they have presented since 1978 Only once in my rccollec has there been any bad words and the public was warned there were swear words in Veronica Room In this last play Lovers Leap there was one bad word uttered but it come under the context of swear words Webster defines swear to mean affirm or declare an oath to utter deration with appeal God for truth of what was affirmed I think the word in question doesn come under that category What other plays has Mrs seen which seems so full of undesirable content that she gets embarrassed in front of her 11 and 15 year old children Except for Veronica Room my two girls and 14 respectively have them all I only think it has enriched their understanding of theatre After all my younger daughtc was in Stratford a short while ago to see Shakespeare which is Is he not Do you know what the subject matter of the 17th playwright was Incest After all Mrs Sider you do have the right to censor what you and your family see but don put the blame Little Theatre is amateur thcatn which uses well known plays don t make them up themselves they are thoroughly read and screened before presentation Georgetown Little Theatre made up entirely of volunteers most of them do a full time Job during the day and at night try to entertain the public for the pure enjoyment theatre I think all the members should be applauded for the fine work they do in bringing Theatre In all its aspects to the Georgetown Bravo GLT Yours sincerely Jennifer Jackson Past Treasurer Past Secretary Past Member of Clinic supporters special people
