senior competlth By GERRY TIMBERS Herald Sports Editor The Georgetown District High School Rebel swimmers continued to build their dynasty Saturday at Brock University In St Catharines winning a fourth consecutive OFSAA championship It was never a contest as the Rebel team more than swimmers from other Ontario secondary schools The Rebels amassed 15 total team points to win the senior competition record 191 points ahead of the second place club Georgetown swimmers le to the occasion Saturday at the tougher Open meet edging out Toronto to take the over all honors The Rebel girls were Invincible throughout the Open meet piling up 109 paints against second place Oakridge This is probably the strongest team Ive coached since I been here Georgetown coach Tom Adams told The Herald Monday There were some question marks at the beginning of the season but the potential was always there We worked hard The awesome Rebel girls were ted by the incomparable Sue Masson set a new mark In winning the backstroke then followed that by taking first In the 100meter freestyle event She also anchored the George town freestyle relay team that smashed the standing OFSAA mark and finished overall Sheila MacDonald Kathy Harris and Debbie Newman were the other members of that squad Stephen MacLeod and John gave tho Rebels a onetwo punch in the senior 100meter backstroke Karen Pepper raced homo alone In the 100meter lndlvidu medley while gave the Rebels a third in the same race Pepper Harris Ana and Erin Mclntyre set a new mark In winning the senior 4 x medley relay Dledrik Don Elson Carter Goodie t and Rick combined to win the senior freestyle relay suffered knee problems the senior on Friday and was forced to miss Saturdays Open meet Coach Adams estimated absence Rebels as much as team points as the Georgetown boys slipped to seventh overall led the Rebels Into Saturday Open meet for the elite high school swimmers In tho province and she managed to win a pair of thirds In the 200meter freestyle and 100meter backstroke also earned a third in the Open 100mcCer backstroke as did the Rebel girls medley relay team of Pepper Plqueras Harris and Debbie Newman Sheila MacDonald had a good day at the senior competition on Friday placing second in the 200- meter freestyle race Teammate Newman was fourth In the same Newman grabbed a third In the 100mctcr freestyle while Pepper did the same in the 100meter back stroke behind Masson record breaking performance Glen Farrow was third in the 100meter breaststroke Farrow Millington MacLeod and Goodie won another however we try to look past the earthy matters of career marriage and family to examine ones capacity for gustograbbing The fact is Christine could have been the champ Much as Clark Kent changes his
