SECTION A THE historical meeting unveils Tweedsmuir books By KAY WILSON Herald Correspondent Nerval Women a Institute Historical He- search meeting took the form of an open bouse a t Nerval Community Centre Thursday after noon and evening The History books were on display for the community Divided Into sec ions the historical material was set out on tables around the room to facilitate many read ers at one time The history starts with the Indians the early settlers and the beginning of the village The building of the flour mills early businesses and personalities were written by the first tor of the book the late Marlon Noble Reed mother of MFP Julian Reed Nerval winding road turns into a highway farms are sold for the expansion of George town and the histories of Presbyterian and Anglican churches and Hillcrest Cemetery are compiled by the second curator the late Mar garet Hunter The third curator the late Owen May records anniversaries century and old time farms and some family histories The Women history was started by Mrs Hunter and Mrs May and continued by Gladys Chester and present curator Dorothy McLean of Mrs McLean Is also responsible for the history of the school and Its demise the history of the Methodist and Unit Churches the history of the World War I and II veterans the history of how Hurricane destroyed the town sole remaining mill the history of the Radial train the history of political figures and old time personalities Mrs McLean has also made a start on present day homes and events Much appreciated and a great boost to the history of were pages of early day scenes and families donated by Mary Coup- land Maxwell What has been compi led so far Is only a drop in the bucket of history We need your help with pictures of homes people events Cubs Scouts Brownies Guides world war vete rans school pictures and other photos of historical Importance Prior to the public display of the books a short business meeting was held with members answering
