game at the George town Bridge Club comes today hand East hand does not look like it could ever be interested in a spade contract but if East listens carefully to part ner bidding and that his minor suit holding is Important East should raise to spades when partner jumps in this suit NT cannot be consider by East because of his heart holding Although 3 NT will play it will be beaten by 4 spades per cent of the time Only a defensive faux pas will promote 3 NT to a good score and one cannot plan on that This was the hand THE HAND d 14 I HQJ74 C1094 SAQM32 SJB AK3 102 DKC2 DA974 C S10 DlOU CAB76 contract for W reached by Epass IS The spade game Is possible even with the bad trumps break so long as declarer recognizes the necessity of knocking out the club A It North leads the for example West should win in his hand and lead the club J South can win and return a diamond but declarer can then dump his redsuit losers on the club plus After this declarer draw trump losing only spades and a club Note that if West allows the Happy 60th for David and Mary The family of David and Mary would like to invito their relatives and friends to an Open House for their Anniversary to be held at the Oddfellows Hull on Wesley an Street in Georgetown Miy from to 4 p m No gifts please opponents to knock out both top diamonds before dislodging the club A he trump bidders in the cast vest should be unhappy with this hand as the eight card fit in spades produces 420 score and NT if it is made scores only The North South era last Tuesday at the Georgetown Club were Gwcn and Gordon Mellow followed by Judy Riven and Jack arse- maker Harry and Charles were third The East West winners were Arthur and Cos to vie followed by John Flanagan and Peter MorieneMc and Ken were third The
