Optimist Club was recognked as the Number One Club In Ontario receiving HONOR CLUB BATING The new Club Building Trophy was received for the sponsorship of Erin and Hillaburg Optimist Clubs Optimist Past President Nona Guthrie achieved Distinguished President talus and a Watch from Optimist International Offices In St Louis Missouri Past Governor A received Distinguished Post Governor a handsome wall clock This Is Optimist second term In this office and the second consecutive year he won this award Secretary Treasurer John Homing received two awards for his work Distinguished Outstanding Club of Georgetown to work with the problems of drugs In our society Many volunteers in the community have offered to work with and many more will be In setting the objectives DAC realizes that this problem took years to create and will take years to solve The objectives of DAC are an awareness that a drug problem does not only exist but is on the increase in our community This is not a jm BARRETT Elki Publicist After resting from the aches and stiffness in my joints I would like to report that the Elksponsored tournament held in conjunction with the at the Georgetown Fairgrounds proved to be an Immense success With teams taking part the overall winner was the French Club who had a tough battle with the Georgetown Independents team until the Una seven minutes when they potted seven unanswered goals before the News Hawks finally got their only which sort of resembled a free throw in a Bask el ball game Loads of laughs were had by all teams taking part I would like to thank and gents who ployed on the various teams and the comments about the fun they had brought forth the answer that they are looking forward to entering this fun event again at the next in 1362 Out of ticket Saturday In the Draw Winner La bar a Munro of Georgetown one many residents helping the scout prepare for fit by buying tickets photo The draw for the lucky winner of the Optimist Club of Georgetown Jamboree Draw was held at Zellers in Ihe Georgetown Market Saturday The winning ticket was drawn by Mayor Peter Winner was Barbara Munro Georgetown who received a cheque from Optimist Club Secretary Treasurer John Horning for 1801 There were 3602 tickets sold The winning ticket was sold by the 1st Scout Group The draw was sponsored and administered by the Optimist with the various scout
