Wednesdays North Senior Public School Tournament hosted by Centennial School at the Fairgrounds Park but if the truth be known everyone who took part deserves the win accolade Perfect weather top notch organizing and excellent calibre of Softball by the youngsters combined to moke this year event truly successful Six teams from North competed in two tiers ind a boys and girls division and Stewarttown Public School emerged the Boys overall Champion while Martin Street claimed he Girls Championship Centennial Martin Street competed in TIER A competition while Z Bennett and competed In the Tier category The schools arc divided Into cither Tier A or Tier B depending on school population Approximately ISO youngsters competed for As with moat other public school competition a point system that allocated three points for a win two points for a tie and one point for a loss was employed Centennial emerged as the Tier A Champions In the boys division while Martin Street won the girls Tier A Championship claimed both the boys and girls Tier Semifinal play eliminated and Z Bennett in the girls division while Centennial and Brookvllle were shunted tin boys division won the Overall Championship by edging while Martin Street claimed the Overall Girls Championship by dropping Centennial For the Centennial girls however the event was regarded as a success as this year marked the first time that Centennial girls had advanced as far as the finals In topping the ended a six year domination of the boys division Jim Hall Corl of Centennial the organizers of the tournament were very pleased with the way the day went but felt It was the combined efforts of a number of people that assured success Centennial students Brian Davis and Heather McFarlanc did an excellent Job as head scorers while same Jcnlor members of the Creek Umpires Association who filled in when because of Job committments the Georgetown Umpires Association could not handle the
