Police said the incident took place at around 7:50 p.m. when a man entered the Birks Jewellery store at Oakville Place Mall and asked to see a specific grade of diamond. The clerk opened the display case to show the man a par- ticular diamond ring at which point the man grabbed the ring, fled to an awaiting vehicle and drove away. An unknown male was in the front passenger seat. The getaway vehicle is described as a silver coloured car, possibly a Honda. The suspect is described as a white male, more than 6-feet in height, more than 220lbs in weight with short hair, a scruffy/unshaven appearance and a deep voice. Standing outside the Jelinek Cork facility on Speers Road Tuesday, Chudleigh, accompanied by Oakville PC candidate Larry Scott and Jelinek Cork owner Sonny Jelinek, announced that if elected a PC gov- ernment would cut through this red tape and help small businesses create jobs. Small business is the engine of job creation in Ontario. Around 80 per cent of the jobs in Ontario are in small- and medium-sized businesses, but one in four small business owners said that if they knew how much red tape and unnecessary paperwork they would have to deal with, they would have fnever set up shop in Ontario. Seventy per cent o them said government regulation is their number one concern, said Chudleigh. Dalton McGuinty doesnt understand this. After eight years in his bubble at Queens Park he thinks fit makes perfect sense to tell a business what size o paper to print documents on (8.5 by 14) and then to fine them up to $1,000 for failing to comply. Is that crazy? He believes we need 21 separate pieces Local PCs promise less red tape Larry Scott See Jelinek page 4 Hey there SNA NEWSPAPER OF THE YEAR 2010 ONTARIOS TOP NEWSPAPER - 2005-2008
