The shelter currently has 400 cats and kittens in its care, each one waiting for their forever family. This number includes all of the cats and kittens in the shelter, as well as those in foster care and at vet clinics and boarding facilities. Its been a very busy kitten season said Johanne Golder, executive director for the Oakville & Milton Humane Society. "Weve also had an increase in animals surrendered by the community as well as strays coming into our care," she said. To help find homes for these fabulous felines, the Oakville & Milton Humane Society will be holding a series of one-day Cat Adopt-a-thons this month. These one-day events will be held both off-site and at the shelter, with all cats and kittens available for adoption for $75 each. This price includes all up-to-date vac- cines, deworming, microchipping, six weeks of pet insurance, free small bag of Hill Science Diet food and a lifetime of uncondi- tional love. The Oakville Cat Adopt-a-thons will be held at Oliver Pets & Co on Aug. 13 and Aug. 27 and at the Oakville & Milton Humane Society. The shelter is also home to a higher than average number of cute canines looking for their new family. There are currently 38 dogs available in the shelter, ranging from older puppies to quieter adult dogs and all shapes and sizes. While there are currently no plans for a Dog Adopt-a-thon, the Oakville & Milton Humane Society would like to invite folks looking for the unconditional love and affec- tion of a dog to add to their pack to come by and meet their wide range of cold noses and warm paws. The Oakville & Milton Humane Society is located at 445 Cornwall Rd. For informa- tion, contact 905-845-1551 or visit www. oakvillemiltonhumane.ca. SEARCHING FOR HOME: The Oakville & Milton Humane Society is overflowing with cats/kit- tens 300 at the shelter and another 100 in foster homes. Numerous cat adopt-a-thons will take place this month.
