Watters has been a priest for the last 30 years and 10 of them at St. Andrew Church. Now 82, Watters became a priest at age 50 after battling with alcohol- ism in his younger years. Admitting he was the best known drunk in town, Watters went on to become a Town councillor, first chair of the Halton Catholic District School Board and a long-time advocate of Alcoholics Anonymous, counselling many for addiction-related problems.
