At times, it may feel as though we hear too much about the skills and heroisms of firefighters, paramedics, etc. But I wonder what could have happened on that Thursday that incredibly hot day Im sure weve not forgotten if those people were not there or if they had been sloppy in their timing and work. Think of the damage and loss of life the fire could have caused. Imagine what would have happened to the crash victims, in that heat? I was only an onlooker to this frightening occurrence I can only imagine what the victims went through that day. My prayers go out for the two ladies I, too, hope they fared well, in the end. And Im very glad that the otherwise unsung heroes who were present have been acknowl- edged. Thats as it should be. I would simply like to add that the team of those who averted disas- ter was indeed extensive, and includ- ed a formidable emergency response group as well as those brave citizens who were kind enough to extend their help. Maria DiDanieli, Oakville On Aug. 10 the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides will celebrate the hard work and dedication of Dog Guides by hosting a Dog Guide Drop-In Day from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Oakville train- ing school (152 Wilson Street).
