By Dominik Kurek OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF Legendary American blues-rock guitarist and singer Johnny Winter has had a lengthy career and continues to make music, even after more than 40 years. However, he says he has not changed in that time. I havent changed that much. I do the same kind of music Ive always done, Winter said. The music world has changed com- pletely, but I havent. Winter, backed by his band, will perform at The Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts on Wednesday, Aug. 3. The musician and the three time Grammy Award-winning producer will play a range of his music from recent years to early years, including hits such as Highway 61 and Johnny B. Good. Despite continuing to make music him- self, he said new music has gone downhill in quality, which he said is a reason why classic- rock has been revitalized in recent years. I dont like new music at all. My music is not knew music. My music is old music, he said. I play good music. He also hopes to convert the younger generations and expects some youths to be at his show in Oakville. Winter was ranked 74th in Rolling Stone magazines list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. He recorded several Grammy- nominated blues albums and was inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame, along with producing the Grammy win- ning albums for blues musician Muddy Waters.
