Georgetown are invited to a public meeting at Wrlgglesworth auditorium Monday Oct Guest speaker will be Gerry Denhart Representing the federal governments New Horizons program for retired Canadians The New Horizons program gives cash grants to groups of 10 or more retired men and women for projects of their own choice Across Canada HO million were made available by parliament for grants to senior citizens groups this year So far none of this money has gone to Georgetown And no grant will be given unless Georgetown senior citizens come up with ideas on what they would want to do to prove community life for themselves and other senior citizens and members of the community Several hundred groups throughout Ontario have received grants for projects as varied as establishing seniors dropIn centres craft courses teaching skills to younger people raising bees writing local histories carpet bowling setting up a coop grocery store starling choirs bands and many others SEEK IDEAS The dinner to honor the units volunteer drivers They transport local patients to Princess Margaret Hospital In Toronto for treatment and appointments From July 1 1972 to June 30 1973 21 patients received transportation service There- were trips made to Toronto for a total of approximately 10 miles Volunteer drivers who were able to attend the dinner were Mrs Mara Mrs Ann French the units education
