will be a major part the agenda As the saying goes Misery loves company and so the clinic will hove a buddy system whereby one weight re can help and encourage another during the week THE ATTITUDE at lheclfnl will be that o fun positive thinking and optimism to offset self consciousness and the de feating feelings of 1 be able to do it and change Suggestions for reading and a number books will be on loan at the clinic Each participant will be urged to read as much as posslbli about subjects relating to thi clinic Basically the idea of Weight Reduction Clinic is at attempt to help women reduce Including the changing of eating habits and patterns proper nutrition for the family massage hard fat areas posture and body me chanics In addition there will bo open discussion of problems WHILE THE Toronto lea are limiting their to those who are 20 pounds or more overweight the George town Y will not have a weight limit Those women who should lose over pounds who have not bad a medical checkup within the post year or who have any problems are being asked to see their doctors and get written permission participate in the clinic If her doctor feels she should have any restrictions or that she should follow particular diet be will nave our complete co operation What about enerdsel Women who ore truly obese should not exercise until they have lost a considerable amount of therefore the actual exercise time during toe clinic will be limited to nonstrenuous move ment geared to relaxing and stretching in order to release tensions Women who con ben efit by more vigorous exercises will be allowed to participate without additional charge In the SUm and Trim for Spring class which fallows the clinic ACTUALLY tba and Trim class la often sufficient for those who have lees than 20 pounds ces is all to often mislabelled police harassment and used to sell papers by an overly en thus as tic press Being at this very time vol in discussions with town council rcrardint the enforce ment of on loitering by law I been on one misquoted by a Toronto dolly paper regarding an of harassment The truth of the matter Is that I have at no time been party to any such accusation I do feel that I am a victim of a tain degree of misconduct on the part of the municipal police however I would certainly In terming it an instance of harassment I am however with the Herald account of the March council meeting and take this opportunity to compliment you on your down to earth reporting I realize that sensationalism nil to often distorts the issue and dclas results Respectfully Farley Hoi ant Dear Sir On behalf of Coun Elementary Teachers we wish to clearly express our feel concerning the white pap er that Includes teachers a contributors to the imemploj insurance fund It in eludes teachers hut excludes small businessmen or the sell worker who for one reason or another may need this insurance more than do Let us suppose thot teachers 111 have eventual need of such insurance Under the present terms of reference in thi employment Insurance there are few if any benefits to teachers The most import ant provision in the Act Is for retraining the unemployed but the Act docs not provide for sending teachers back to for retraining It it highly doubtful if many teach will be dismissed except for reasons of incompetence because the annual retirement rate will care the pros decreasing pupil enrol Those have just from colleges must hold a job first before they eligible for benefits It can be clearly seen that no benefits are forthcoming to teachers In short this is not insurance an unemployment lax go lets call it what it Is Furthermore did you know that you our employers taxpayers must match payment dollar for dollar This means that a conceivable one quarter million dollars could bo collected from the County taxpayers as the contribution This mo ney will not benefit the stud but go to the federal gov ernment to support an scheme that teachers nci ther need nor want In Ontario approximately million dollars will be collected part of education taxes and be sent to Ottawa It Is estim ated that of this SO million dot only million will return to Ontario in benefits to Unemploed As teachers and DID YOU KNOW The ancient Rodeo Coming Back The rodeo return to town May and lor the sec and year The fairgrounds park will again be the call nip tog bronco basting calf scram cutting and all the other events which go to make up rodeo Brahma built will be an a thriller this year Youthful organizer year old Hugh Graham of Lime house will again stage three performances two on Saturday one on Sunday All program advertising will be handled by the Georgetown Big Brothers who will receive advertising proceeds opposed to it legislation taxpayers wo this uncmployjn three counts It Is not Insurance because it offers no benefits to us It squeezes money out of the taxpayer for unemployment under the pretence that it Is for education Most Important it is a method of collecting money to patch up an quated system that should be completely scrapped and rebuilt to make it more use ful and equitable We as teachers are not helping those who are un employed through a legitimate means of taxation but we do oppose paying for insurance that has no benefits We offer this information for both benefit and that of an already burdened taxpaying public Sincerely ELEMENTARY TEACHER S
