After a protracted illness, Mrs. Martha (Merilla) Smith, wife of Joshua Smith, died at her residence, Glover's Sideroad, Winona, Tuesday morning at the age of 81 years. She was the eldest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George C. Glover, early settlers in the Winona district. Her husband and one sister, Mrs. S. Begg, Chicago, survive. The remains will rest at Truscott Brothers' funeral home, corner Barton Street and Birth avenue, until Wednesday afternoon, when they will be conveyed to her home for family service Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, thence to the Fruitland United church, where Mrs. Smith was one of the oldest members for public service at 2 o'clock. Interment will be made in Fruitland cemetery.
