happen in threes Why then did I recently experience an entire week of misfortunes It started on Saturday morning when I had to spend on a new headlight for my tar I it to be about a matter of hours later I get the news my sister was in a serious ear accident in Calgary About lGhours later my tar pulled a temper tantrum and I work On a Sunday with no gar I m in Colhngwood Good itgomg but I refused to drive miles with a clip propelling my vehicle traded Jalopies with him until he could get a new battery put In it BelicvLtne there is a big differ ente between my subcompact and his big boil I spent a month budget for gas in three days My mother went ui the hospital on Tuesday for what was to be a fairly sim pic operation and ended up having major surgery stemming from injuries in a car accident years before Seconds after my father pulled away from our rendezvous point in Orange vllle where we switched cars Wednes day my windshield wipers refused to move I coped but barely Later that night 1 was pulled over by the police half a block from home She thought had the wrong sticker on my plate I was terrified she would somehow know my wipers t working and take me in Thursday I stayed home and didn venture farther than the mailbox Friday was going good until I found myself in in the rain with an appoint to get my wipers fixed on Monday Rut not to worry the back of my hand I zipped down Harris St and was going to go down the First Line and sneak home the back way avoiding the traffic of the highway I every mile to pull my dead blades up to clear my window and was doing very well But naturally I missed the First line and was horrified when Highway loomed ahead of me In desperation I decided to turn around and pulled a U turn The road looked wide enough the snow plows had kindly pushed the snow back way past the shoulder and I was homefree I thought Turns out there wasnoshoulderon that road only a ditch full of snow which was nice and even deceiving with the road An hour and201ater 1 waved goodbye to the tow ruck Trying to remain my mature patient calm self I grabbed my wiper blade and pulled it up to clear my window for the return trip home It snapped off in my hand I was soaked cold tired and broke and this did nothing to raise my spirits I made it home in one piece didn kick the dog or yell at my husband nor did I say anything bad against the car that has served me so well for more than half a decade That was all more than a week ago So far knock wood nothing has happened to the car or me since hen My wipers are fixed my lights are working my car is starting 111 never pull a turn again and more than everything I have learned the value of a good horse and buggy GeorgetownActon Wednesday Mar 7 Orpheus choir back at Knox The Hamilton Orpheus Male
