B2 The Acton Free Proas Wednesday Feb 1979 Pop concert There will be no figure skating carnival at the Acton Community Centre Ihta season Instead the Acton Figure Skating Club will devote their time to a pop concert The main reason for the switch from a cam ival to a pop concert was cost according to the Figure Skating Club secretary Carol Camp bell The high rise in prices of ice fees costumes pro fees tickets and pro grams all are Involved in the decision to run a pop concert said Mrs Campbell We have a good reputation with our show and instead of running a second rate carnival we decided to alternate The figure skating clubs in Georgetown and Milton have been running carnivals and pop con certs on alternating years Both will run No carnival plans for figure skaters Figure skating news carnivals this season A pop concert is a combination of demon solos and group numbers said Mrs Campbell All the skaters will be involved in the program demonstrating skills they have learned over the year The solo performances will not be specially planned for the pop concert but will be from tests or compel it ions previously com plcted The concert date has not been set as of yet but will be on the afternoon of April or There will be only one performance In the afternoon There is talk of a skating party afterwards This has been a very busy year for the club many test days and competitions
