Average Music Night the two bands entertained a sellout crowd In the relaxed cafestyle concert The Acton District high school band performed a number of popular tunes before the first intermission Refreshments were served by the high school cafeteria club before a set was performed by the high school stage band known as Free Spirit After another Intermission the high school band played again for the audience The bands have been work on the Spring Fever music program since Christmas Saturday night was the first full music program they have STAGE BAND PERFORMED popular songs during Spring Fever a ever performed Another first night of music presented at the high school Saturday JaXc EUerb Janice who is a member of both Free Spirit and the Concert band assisted with the conducting giving impossible for a number of students to take part In Since Acton high students will not be able to visit different areas of Canada to investigate truly Canadian activities Canada will be brought to them Canada day will be held next Wednesday April 26 at the high school The day was scheduled for but effects of a truly Canadian storm cancelled activities until more stable weather arrived The purpose of the day Is to try lo develop a greater awareness of the many activities that repre sent the Canadian way The day will begin with a and discussion by George Vincent a well known geographer and author of Canada from Sea to Sea Throughout the day ses sions will be scheduled with guest speakers and demon rations taking place In the school Representatives from the Helton Department of Agriculture Department of Indians and Northern Affairs C Canadian Armed Forces Ministry of Energy Project North Toronto bo r Commission Escarpment will be on hand for the day Inuit French and English folk singers will perform along quilting square dancing spinning Mennonite folk art and Ihe High demonstrations Other guest speakers In elude Frank Cosentlno former Argonaut on Sports Our Cultural Amnesia play right Carol Bolt free lance writer Graeme Gibson a dis cuss ion on Seals and Sealing the building of the C tower ecology in Ontario the lion of the Great Lakes and the conservation of energy Two Canadian films will also be shown during the day A variety show at the end of the day will be open to the whole school and community members attending the act Prizes will be awarded to the students wearing the most red and white during Canada Day The cafeteria will also be following the Canada Day theme by planning a menu of Canadian foods for the day Organizer Miss Wanda Hall would
