guests SPECIAL GUEST at the Legion Ladies Auxiliary 50th anniversary banquet held here Saturday was 86year old Comrade Florence Pegg of Toronto She was convention chairlady for 35 years This lively lady proposed the toast to the Legion She is welcomed by zone com mander Irene Shields of The kitchen table Is constantly littered with entry forms lists and plans or carrying crates as the kids figure out just how much they can cram into the fair this year But Mom even if the calf is crossbred several times over and only four months old why can put him in the Hereford bull class He s really pretty and we can say he a BLACK Hereford and it take me more than a couple of hours to halter break him Honest But Mom 1 know the Leghorn rooster has lost his feathers and looks like he got caught in the but cm I tie a little note to his leg explaining No no no I got caught last year entering every class possible baking to flowers to handicrafts Not to mention donkeys And of course all the odds and sods going in the poultry and pet classes Guess who spent all Friday morning of the fair skidd up and down Highway in the pouring rain carting everything to the grounds before deadline juggling spilled as and trying to keep the guinea pig box from squashing the angel cake This year entries from our family will be of a more han number if I can keep a lid on the kids They get far more excited over the Acton Fall Fair than over the CNE the Royal andanyotherfallfair combined sodol No matter how mad at the world I am at the time I always love theFallFair More tie Fair classes are much the same again and livestock classes are too numerous to Itemize here However they do include the English pony classes starting at nine a day morning followed by gymkhana pony games Saturday afternoon Heavj horse harness pomes and light carriage horses will be shown most of Saturday on he track On Sunday the senior English horse classes leap and gallop in one ring while Western horses do their stuff in another and heavy horse strain at the horse pull on the track I spend most of the fair racing around from ring to ring with a camera slung around my neck trying pictures in focus The cattle show is extended this year so its possible to enjoy the sight of those shiny well kept beasts both Saturday and Sunday Sheep and hogs are judged Saturday Poultry and pets will be on view for the whole
