budget which buys small equipment that is used In classes as well as Intramurals inter school and a travel budget for the inter school sports Referee fees and other expenses are paid for by the emphasis of the program moving Into fitness He wants to get students on their own to make a com milment lo some form of fitness They don have to reach any get into a pattern Fitness Is one of ihe major reasons thai the students have cited for going Into school sports in the first place Physical Education in school is not compulsory now and according to Mr Andrews akld realizes you have to do something Your body will tell you The department will be introducing a voluntary fitness program in the fall He has seen a great interest among stu dents in sports they can use when they leave school He cited tennis for an example saying kids come at a m to play during the school year Vive difference With a lown program that includes hockey lacrosse soccer tennis bowling and curling It might seem a little unnecessary to have a sports program In the high school as well High school sports however are an Important part of the students life In Acton As Mr Andrews said Sports teaches them Ihe winning losing concept of life and how to cope with It Because the outlook and philosophy of the high school program Is different from the town sports program It gives people a chance to get involved
